"Django Chanté" - CD Critique - Besprechungen - Reviews - Recensies - Críticas
It's difficult not to gush praise DIRTY LINEN, USA. Polytour graces us yet again with still more Hot Club Jazz, only this time, they've uncovered five sets of "lost" lyrics and set them to Django Reinhardt compositions. These words, written by French lyricists between 1943 and 1945, according to liner notes "probably got lost during the misery of WWII and the post-war period." Their existence was discovered in the Netherlands Jazz Archief on the back of a sheet music album. As if the story behind this recording weren't compelling enough, just put on the music and be swept away. Much like their previous CD, Orkest Polytour fills this album with great songs from the 1930s and 40s, including the incomparable classics by Cole porter ("Night and Day") and Irving Berlin ("Blue Skies"), executed in their graceful yet fiery style. Once again, this recording includes beautiful guitar solos and a nice touch of accordion. It's difficult not to gush praise because the music is just so satisfyingly beautiful.
